About the Temple
Introduction
Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple stands on Chadarghat Main Road, opposite the Victory Playground (popularly called Victoria Playground), in central Hyderabad. It is regarded as one of the oldest Shirdi Sai Baba temples in the city, and for generations of devotees in Chadarghat, Koti and Malakpet it has been a familiar place to stop for Baba's darshan.
About the Temple
The temple's founding year and founders have not been published. It is a city temple serving the surrounding neighbourhoods, and it draws its largest gatherings on Thursdays, the day devotees traditionally dedicate to Sai Baba.
Shirdi Sai Baba
Sai Baba of Shirdi was a saint who lived in the village of Shirdi in Maharashtra and attained Mahasamadhi there in 1918. He taught Shraddha (faith) and Saburi (patience), and his words "Sabka Malik Ek" – "One God governs all" – drew devotees of every background. Today Sai temples across India follow the worship of Shirdi, and many observe the four daily aartis held there: Kakad Aarti at dawn, Madhyan Aarti at noon, Dhoop Aarti at sunset and Shej Aarti at night.
Festivals
- Guru Purnima – the most important festival for Sai devotees, who honour Baba as their Sadguru (usually June–July).
- Sri Rama Navami – celebrated with great devotion at Shirdi since Baba's own time (usually March–April).
- Vijayadashami – the day of Baba's Mahasamadhi, observed at the end of Dasara (usually September–October).
- Thursdays – the weekly day of special worship and the busiest day at the temple.
